this is Jack's poorly-utilized lunch break.

I'm posting because I can't figure out the behavior of circuit #5 on the homework set. It's just like college all over again: can't do the homework? Well, maybe the answer will come to you if you tool around online. (It usually doesn't. But at least you got to tool around online.)

Really, not understanding something on the homework is infinitely less cool than not understanding something at work. If it's work-related, there's no shame in finding a senior engineer and having him explain it to you. If it's homework, then... that would be cheating.

In other news, yesterday was Talk Like a Pirate Day, which no doubt explains this gem of an email: Aye, tis time te be pilferin'. Be tellin' ye hearties I hear there be a software chumbucket at the sixth bay at noon - ye hardware swabs ca' plunder cookies while the scurvy curs' backs be turned if ye be quick.

Huh?

How do you have homework, yet you are not in college?

Well, I'm taking a graduate class, which is like college but not really, since I consider "in college" to be this period of 4.5 years in my life which ended awhile back. "In grad school" is significantly different from "in college" in that they expect me to keep working 40+ hrs/wk, which affords less time for things like tooling around online.

So I don't think of myself as "in college," even though I'm technically enrolled as a student at a college. I'm realizing now that this is a distinction that may only have existed in my head.

OK, so.... what's the homework problem? I won't discuss it with you if you feel that would be cheating, but you've really got me curious...

When did you start grad school? Masters? PhD? What school? You are highly un-forthcoming with your information as of late!

This semester! I'm just sort of taking graduate courses, one at a time, and we'll see if I actually do have the dedication to go for a full MS. Johns Hopkins. Sorry, I would have brought it up last week but Kaylie was so cute it blew clean out of my head.

I'll send you a .gif when I get home. It's actually fairly simple and if I put it into SPICE I'm sure I would have no problem figuring it out, but I kind of want to do it myself first. It has two current sources in it. The current sources are out of phase. This always breaks my mind because for some reason I find current sources much trickier to deal with than voltage sources.
