and here I was thinking it would be a boring Monday
I sauntered into work this morning expecting to spend a long lazy day in front of the computer, updating documents, writing revision notices, and listening to podcasts all day. Instead, I got this:
Technician: I have an intermittent problem with this tool you built! But don't worry, all I need to do is hit this particular switch and the signal will flow. You can rewrite the instructions to tell me to hit that switch, right?
Me: I can't do that. That switch has nothing to do with that particular signal.
Tech: Want me to show you? [goes through procedure] See?
Me: Wait, that can't be right. [repeats procedure with same results] Well, I'll be danged.
Tech: Now tell me again how the switch has nothing to do with the signal.
Me: ...
Tech: Okay, I'll be over here until you figure out what's wrong with it.
