Wednesday is food day

Two articles from the Post food section:

I Can't Believe I Bought the Whole Thing, dealing with the rising trend of buying local, grass-fed meat in huge quantities. (Quite often, that's the only way it's sold.) I read this with interest, since we've signed up for a quarter of a cow later this year. (Note to self: get going on the gasket repair for the downstairs freezer...)

Typos a la Carte, or one woman's frustration with restaurant menus. This article definitely resonated with me. No more shall I bite my tongue when presented with the desert selection! Next time I'll definitely say something about the hors d'ouvre portion of the menu. Just you wait and see.

I get my CSA pickup this afternoon; I'm looking forward to it. Already this year I've dealt with radishes and beets, both new to me. (I tried this recipe for butter-braised radishes a couple of weeks ago, and thought it absolutely delicious; however, K missed the raw radish bite. I'll just prepare radishes two separate ways from now on.) It's like getting a goody bag of food, and we've been eating a lot more vegetables, too.

We've been roasting the radishes from our CSA box - but I wanna try the recipe you linked to - sounds great!

oh, it's sooo good. The radishes get all sweet and buttery. I'll try roasting the next ones we get -- K might like that better.
