Nov. 2nd, 2004 06:37 pmEveryone's voted by now, I suppose? If not, what are you doing here? Get out of my country, shoo.
I kind of miss the old punch card, you know, hanging chad and all. It felt a lot more permanent: stab! you've made a hole in the paper! Not only is your vote made, but there's a physical record: you've made an impact. Nowadays they have colorful touch screens that leave a trail of giant red X's wherever your fingers have traveled, and although I'm more than comfortable with the medium, I couldn't help but feel as if I were playing a rather basic video game. It feels a lot more trivial, this touching of screens; it lacks drama. And I kept being nervous that the system hadn't saved my game.
Wordcount thus far (accomplished / tonight's goal): 2125 / 3800, almost all of which is absolutely worthless. But that's the glory of Nano, right? To avoid spamming the uninterested, I'm thinking of posting the Nanocrap to a filter as I go; comment and tell me if you're interested in reading it. (The usual suspects need not apply; Tsu, m&, claybird, Hemingway fils, you guys are included whether you like it nor not.)
