thanksgiving contentment
Nov. 28th, 2004 11:49 pmBack from Thanksgiving in the Berkshires; absolutely fantastic skiing conditions (Saturday) were followed by sitting all day on the New Jersey Turnpike (Sunday). Nevertheless, much fun was had, and much coffee consumed: a very good weekend in my book.
Came home to email (internet, sweet internet!) which contained this particular gem, sent by the brother who didn't go on the trip: the OS-tan, an internet phenomenon in which various incarnations of Windows OS are represented as cartoons by Japanese fen. Link is to the Wiki article, which contains such explanations as:
XP is a sexy, dark-haired girl wearing the XP logo as a hair ribbon. As XP is sometimes criticized for bloating a system and being very pretty without being equally as useful, XP-tan wears very little and has large breasts. Also, as XP uses up large amount of memory, XP-tan eats a lot, usually holding a large empty bowl with the word "memory" on it, but still requests more.
XD Utterly hilarious. Personally, I like the Linux penguin-girl. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for things that make you chortle even after you've been trapped in a minivan for thirteen hours.
On the nano front, the word count has soared to 45493; the finish line is in sight! It's a pity that the laptop ran out of batteries on the aforementioned Turnpike. But a wonderful weekend nonetheless, and I hope y'all had a good one as well.
And finally, ( memeage is love )
