on climbing
Aug. 23rd, 2006 10:41 pmWe went climbing yesterday; it was late in the evening and the gym was full, so I didn't get to the climbs I wanted -- turned out okay; I did a 10a with a modicum of grace and then managed to klutz my way up a new sequence of climbs (a 5.8, 5.7, and 5.6 on the overhang wall near the front of the gym). My hands got tired easily and I couldn't manage some easy balancing moves that I should have been able to do. I'll try 'em again next time.
I do like seeing new climbs, though. The tape is all shiny and bright, and this set was in red, green, and orange; it looked as if someone had shredded bell peppers against the wall. The funniest thing about those climbs is that they were newer than new -- they were dated 8/23, but we climbed them on 8/22. We were doing future climbs! (No wonder they were hard, K says.)
Anyway, we're going climbing again on Friday, in the Rockville gym. We'll probably be there around 6pm or so, if anyone wants to stop by.
