20 years ago, I...
...began to read my first adult fantasy book, Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey. I wasn't really interested in the mating bits, but I totally got the appeal of riding dragons and could not be convinced to put it down. Even in class. My teachers tolerated it as long as I finished my schoolwork first, which at second grade was really not that hard. It was much longer than any other book I had read and took me months of effort.
...got my eyesight tested and received thick glasses with plastic blue frames.

15 years ago, I...
...was a freshman at high school, at which I felt unbelievably grown-up and yet terrifyingly small.
...discovered that the rest of the world was not, in fact, Jewish.
...started hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] tyger_san, in whom I discovered a shared sense of humor, as well as a fascination with anything strange and coincidental.
...stopped practicing piano, which disappointed my teacher and resulted in my quitting lessons within the year.

10 years ago, I...
...was well into my freshman year, hanging out with awesome people like [livejournal.com profile] paleotheist, eating chicken strips for dinner every night, discovering for myself the wonders of 24/7 broadband internet, and finding entire communities of anime fans online. This nearly killed my grades during the first semester.
...moved away from home, which triggered the degradation of my once-fluent Cantonese.
...found out that my parents were going to get divorced.

5 years ago, I...
...was heartily sick of living in Virginia Beach, felt alienated by the conservative politics of basically everyone around me, was disenchanted with my job, was terribly homesick, and griped constantly about not having access to bubble tea.
...worried deeply about the shooting spree going on in MD and called home frequently.
...decided to tackle nanowrimo for the first time.

3 years ago, I...
...had just gotten internet installed in my townhouse, and was still in the middle of unpacking boxes.
...kept getting really lost trying to find anything in Columbia.
...was climbing almost three times a week and seeing [livejournal.com profile] bkleber constantly; was also doing Pilates or DDR for almost every one of the other four days of the week. I believe this might have been the peak of my physical fitness level thus far.

1 year ago, I...
...designed my second-ever circuit board for work; checked it obsessively so that it would not have the same weaknesses as the first one.
...sang in the Renaissance Festival for the first time and was deeply grateful that the other alto had a good strong voice, as I was dumb with stage fright during the first set.
...had been dating K for six months.

So far this year, I...
...took K to Vancouver to meet my extended family and eat lots of Chinese food.
...resumed going climbing at least twice a week, mostly because K also began climbing; my forearm muscles are coming back.
...was assigned the role of lead electrical on my very own project.

Yesterday, I...
...spent half an hour cleaning up two separate instances of cat puke before work.
...struggled to stay awake while reading test specifications all day, and drank lots of tea.
...sung madrigals for a mostly-conscious crowd at a retirement home.
...got invited to a birthday party for a one-year-old.

Today, I...
...did not have to clean up any cat puke.
...drank a Starbucks mocha, and had no problem staying awake while reading test specifications. Had some trouble staying focused, though.
...saw the scope of my work expand drastically after I asked a simple question.
...attended trivia at lunch, and distinguished myself by being the only one to get the "Waiting for Guffman" question.

Tomorrow I will...
...go to the Renn Fest, dressed in jeans this time instead of a dress, and climb the climbing wall. If it's not raining.
...go to Blob's Park for Oktoberfest.
...hopefully not have to clean up any cat puke.

Apparently, the fact that I did this meme in October means that there's a lot of mention of Fest.
