During my usual bleary-eyed progress from the post-lunch meeting back to my cube, I passed a coworker going in the other direction. "Hey," I said.

She pointed her coffee cup at me. "Avast, matey. Stand and fight!"

So just how does one "point" a coffee cup?

Good question! Um...

well, picture yourself holding a coffee mug by the handle, your thumb towards the top. Now extend your arm so that your elbow is straight, hand extended away from you. Drop the cup in such a way that your hand is above the cup, your thumb is pointed out; any person in front of you would be staring directly into the mouth of your cup. (The cup in this case was empty, or splashing might have occurred.)

Now that I've taken the time to consider verbs, I still can't come up with a better one...
